Help us support our individuals and families experiencing homelessness by donating to Bethlehem’s March monthly mission - Connections. Connections extends a welcome that provides dignity, shelter, and community to those with a need. Connections shelter is a low barrier emergency shelter. We house men, women, and families. We have a 35 bed capacity.

The shelter is open from 6pm-8am daily. Intake is from 6pm-6:30pm. A meal is served nightly. Many volunteer opportunities are also offered so consider offering your time as well as monetarily. Our goal is $3000.

Servant of Christ Awards

Each year, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota recognizes partnering congregations that are leaders in social ministry and social justice in their community, have a connection to LSS services in their area, and faithfully provide financial support for the service ministry of LSS.

Congregations in each of the six ELCA Synods in Minnesota may be nominated by pastors, staff, congregation members, individuals in the community or LSS employees. Servant of Christ congregations are recognized at their respective Synod assemblies each spring as well as in a presentation directly to the congregation.

Selection criteria includes:

• The strength, longevity, or richness of the relationship between the congregation and LSS.

• A powerful connection to a service offered by LSS.

• Providing extraordinary social ministry leadership in their community, whether or not as part of an LSS service.

• Financial stewardship to LSS, both through congregational pledging and gifts from individual donors.

Offering envelopes for 2022 will be available in the narthex starting mid-December.  Numbers will no longer be assigned.  Envelopes are dated as usual, but please put your name on your envelope when you make a contribution.  Our current contribution system is name driven and does not use envelope numbers.  Those who give electronically do not need to take envelopes.  Any questions can be addressed to Elizabeth in the church office or by email at elizruiz@blcmankato.org.

The Office of the Bishop at the SEMN Synod is asking for 15-20 adult volunteers to assist them at the 2022 SEMN Synod Assembly.

When: Saturday, May 7 from 7am-11am
What: Registration Table Volunteers and Helping Hand Volunteers (directing folks to bathrooms, display tables, etc.)
Where: Mayo Clinic Event Center, Mankato MN

We humbly offer a box lunch to enjoy after your service.

Our February 2022 mission is Partners for Housing. P4H believes it is essential that affordable housing and temporary shelter be available to those in need. The public interest is best served when all citizens have the opportunity to properly house themselves and their families in comfort and safety, and the cost of housing should not disproportionately deplete the already stretched finances of the poor and homeless.

About Partners for Housing
Deep-rooted in the community for over 30 years, Partners for Housing is seasoned in serving the housing needs for vulnerable populations. The organization owns and operates a number of site housing facilities that provide different housing options. In addition to our emergency shelters, Theresa House, Union Street Place and Welcome Inn, we provide transitional and permanent affordable housing options to homeless and/or at-risk individuals and families in the Mankato area.
