Everything you need to know
NEW THIS YEAR!
We’ve added a few new elements: 1 Detour (choose between 2 different challenges),1 Roadblock (a physical activity one or more group members have to do before completing a challenge, and 1 Timeout (In person only - the previous day’s last-placed team yells timeout once and all other teams have to freeze for a minute) will happen each day.
We won’t use Google forms for those who participate in person. Insead, you’ll write your response to each challenge and turn them in after you complete each one. Anna will include a Google form only for those who are Together In Spirit.
We won’t make videos to explain each challenge. Instead, written instruction will be included in each challenge card.
Because we know the virus doesn’t spread well outdoors or by touching, teams won’t need to be as isolated as they were last year. Masks will not be required for kids or adults. Also, some materials will be shared among groups when necessary. Though restrictions are loosened, please remind your teams to respect the boundaries and comfort of others.
Live Track
When: Each day (M-Th) between 6:30-7:30 pm
Where: At a TOP SECRET location that will change each day
Monday-Thursday, June 21st-24th: Each day of VBS a video will be emailed out to all participants around 9 am. The video will introduce the day's theme give you three clues to find our location for the day, along with a riddle for our Together in Spirit participants. Once you've figured out our location, join us there between 6:30 and 7:30 pm! If you can’t find Miss Anna, you can text 507-213-9276 to get directions. You can pick up your bin with most of the supplies you'll need for your three challenges. Unlike last year, we will not have videos to explain each of the challenges or use a Google Form to show you’ve completed a challenge. Instead, you’ll write responses on each challenge card that will give you directions for each challenge. Whether you’re participating at home or live, we’ll keep a leaderboard using your responses, just like in the show Amazing Race! When you’re done, return your bin to Anna so it can be used for the next day’s challenges.

Together in Spirit Track
When: Each day (M-Th)
Where: At the place of your choosing! You’ll want space to spread out for some activities.
Monday, June 21st: Anna will drop off your Amazing (G)Race materials for the week!
Monday-Thursday, June 21st-24th: Each day of VBS, a video will be sent to you introducing our day’s theme, giving 3 clues to our in-person location, and a riddle, especially for TIS families. . Miss Anna will also create a video, especially for the Together in Spirit families, to explain each challenge and how you can adapt it at home. You’ll use the Google Form to record your responses after you complete the challenges and solve the riddle. Complete the forms by 8:30 am the next day, so we can include you in the leaderboard!
While you’re participating at home, we encourage you to take photos and share your experience with us in our Facebook group: BLC Children, Youth, and Families! We’re so grateful you’re participating and would love to see the fun you’re having at home.

Omega the Otter & Alpha the Zebra wants to remind you that the Amazing (G)Race is an adventurous, family-centered, and outdoors VBS. This means activities will be lead by families with support from our written explanations of each challenge. Miss Anna and Ms. Kaitlin will be there to support you. For those participating live, we will race together rain or shine. If there are any adjustments to our daily plan, we will let you know via email. We hope any weather might make the challenges even more fun!
Each Day You’ll Need
A phone or laptop with internet access. Before each heat begins, you’ll need it to watch video clues and riddles each day. During the race, you’ll need it to record videos and take pictures, too!
The materials in your bin. The live track will pick up and return bins at our location each day.
Good walking shoes as some activities will include a bit of walking.
A water bottle, especially if you’re joining us for the live track!
Together in Spirit Track Only
Some of your own summer supplies like pool noodles, hula hoop big bowls, cones, etc. You can be creative with what you have on hand.
Live Track Only
Respect for others’ boundaries. Masks, only if you choose.
Bug spray. We will be outside and it is summer, after all.
Try to go to the bathroom at home before you come. Though most bathrooms are open at local parks, there’s still a chance they may be closed. Please be aware of this as you plan.
Hand sanitizer. (Optional) We will have some on hand along with disinfecting wipes, but you may want to bring your own as well.
